ABSTRACT:
As the international standard for systems engineering ISO/IEC 15288 “Systems Engineering Life Cycle Processes” receives more attention - probably due to an increasing need for a common framework within the systems engineering community - it is imperative to understand and apply it to commercial applications. Modeling and Simulation make simulation more effective and efficient. The combination of the right architecture framework and modeling and simulation helps deliver systems on time and budget.
The paper introduces ISO/IEC 15288, Architectural Frameworks and M&S. It also provides an example on how ISO/IEC 15288, Architectural Frameworks and M&S can be integrated and the
benefits of that integration, especially how M&S can be used to develop and execute system designs. Finally the paper also discusses some ideas regarding tools in this space.
