This document defines the strategic priorities for a large and complex IT Organization serving multiple educational institutions. This IT Organization follows a centralized support model to gain from its efficiency and effectiveness and do more with less and avoid duplication. IT strategic planning aligns with both business requirements and this IT Operating Model.
This IT Strategy Plan Document presents an evolving vision that will serve as a guide for planning and making IT investments for the planning period. It identifies key priority areas for strategic planning in IT. Each of these has their goals and deliverables identified. However, the focus is on "keeping the lights on" i.e. ensuring the delivery of stable, error free IT Operations while new capability is being built following this plan.
At the center of this strategic plan is the vision to provide empowering applications, robust infrastructure, enhance communication and deliver ubiquitous services through collaboration and cooperation. Given the change in business requirements and the operating environment, this document will be updated on a yearly basis to reflect ground realities.
The noteworthy aspect of this example is the use of spider charts to illustrate strategic priorities and their implementation - an excellent tool for strategic planning. (50+ pages)
