Current enterprise architecture toolset provides excellent modeling functionality - descriptions of the key components of the enterprise, and the systems, data, and infrastructure that support them. Using these tools one can get an excellent idea of system coverage of business functions, and organization. These descriptive models are very useful in primarily cost driven decision making. Questions such as, "do we have a system for that? Are there multiple systems doing the same thing?" are easily answered. However, "does this model create business value?" or "how will the enterprise react to this new product launch or market entry" or "which design is the best to support this new product" are not answered by descriptive models. The proposed enterprise architecture tool borrows techniques from other fields and applies them to the enterprise architecture domain to create a capability for analysis that supports business decision making.
