The Consumerization of Corporate IT

Can Corporate IT save a bundle adopting consumer driven IT services? Well, the obvious first question is: what is consumer driven IT?

The authors argue that the personal computer was thrust upon a reluctant Corporate IT shop - who was afraid of losing its control over IT in the organization hence opposed the move. Nevertheless, the move saved organizations a bundle.

This first wave of consumer led IT is now a tsunami - everything from cheap hardware to services are exponentially increasing computing power while reducing its cost.

Corporate IT is behind the curve in recognizing the potential of consumer led IT and perhaps resisting its adoption for the same reasons it did the personal computers.

Is it time to take another look and unleash the power of consumer led IT?
