This paper describes key aspects of new product development (NPD) - the new product in our case is a new IT project/program/initiative! - implemented by a virtual geographically dispersed team. This stage gate model does not replace existing systems and processes in an organization, rather supports communication and sharing among a virtual geographically dispersed team.
The authors claim that this modified stage gate model and process will lead to better, more cost effective products developed and delivered quickly.
