"Much has been written about top-down leadership and leaders who follow. But what about those who lead from the middle? Researchers from the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship went inside eight companies and discovered it is often mid-level managers who lead efforts to integrate corporate citizenship. Some of the middle
managers have senior executive support, others scarcely any high level support. In a few of the cases, the managers
have made substantial progress in the face of daunting business downturns."
