Undoubtedly, there is a new requirement being placed on CIOs: be more strategic. Do people who are asking for this new focus really know that that means, not just to the CIOs but to them and the organization? Are they really willing to have CIOs be a full and equal partner at the table? Do CIOs understand the implications on their role and responsibility?
