This example illustrates a collaborative review process used to develop an IT Strategy Plan. The highlights of this IT Strategy Development process are:
- Identify strategic areas of importance to focus the planning effort
- Conduct interviews of key stakeholders and selected members of the wider ecosystem (customers, partners etc.) to gain insights into the changing needs and uses of technology
- Form joint teams of IT, business area representatives, and subject matter experts
- Review the status of existing goals, objectives, action items
- Revise/Refresh (or create) a strategic plan
- Review this plan in a "planning retreat" to further refine, consolidate, align this plan with business priorities
- Regularly revisit Information Technology Strategic Plan and update it to reflect changes to the current environment or strategic priorities as well as the dynamic changes in technology
