Introduction to Conversational Commerce

How humanizing technology is building your brand and competitive advantage. Read On!

Conversational commerce is a type of ecommerce that uses chatbots, messaging platforms and other digital tools to help consumers make purchasing decisions. Conversational commerce doesn’t use traditional forms of marketing such as emails or landing pages. Instead, conversational commerce uses in-app messaging to encourage sales.

Chances are that you have had a conversation with an automated conversation system – a bot – whether it be calling into your bank to get your current balance or talking to an online customer service bot at your utility company.

Bots are a type of machine intelligence that allow humans to communicate with computers. They are commonly used to provide customer service, and many people interact with them more than they realize. Most bots are helpful, easy to use, and often fun to stump with obscure questions. However, things get even more interesting when we look at the other side of the coin - the businesses behind the bots and the bots behind the businesses.

This report discusses the emergence and development of business bots and how bots are playing and will continue to play a major role in everyday life, especially on messenger platforms. Although it is still difficult to gain a comprehensive view of their impact, we are looking at a fundamental shift in the way organizations and customers will conduct their business. In other words, bots are changing how businesses interact with their customers and vice versa.
