There are two sides to any business equation: demand and supply.
There is one major reason for business inefficiency: misaligned demand and supply.
There are many reasons for this misalignment but organization design is often to blame.
There is no other business function where the effects of this misalignment of demand and supply more obvious and painful than information technology (IT). IT also happens to be the function that is so poorly designed that this factor alone contributes a majority of the pain of this misalignment.
So, if we want to understand IT Strategy, we must start with the basics of IT demand and supply. If we must implement an effective IT strategy, our goal should be an IT Organization designed to align demand and supply.
This article takes on the issue of demand and supply mismanagement and provides a solution.
