IT Strategy for Construction Industry

When - and if - we think of IT Strategy it is only in the context of the organization i.e. most IT Strategies focus on the internal efficiencies and effectiveness. Admittedly, we do factor in external forces but rarely is an IT Strategy designed to shape those forces. All this is logical and for good reason - we want to gain from forces by sticking to our sphere of influence.

This paper discusses IT Strategy in the context of an industry - in this case the construction industry - highlighting value creation opportunities that exist for the entire industry should it chose to leverage technology. The thinking is that each player in the industry is merely collecting crumbs when thinking of IT Strategy in their own organization's context. So think of the whole value chain and the whole supply chain...if you want to see "real" value creation from IT.
