Process based work brings efficiency. Agreed. At what point does this adherence to process become a liability? That is the dicussion of this paper. The authors suggest that 100% adherence to process is not recommended. I agree. For all its success, Six Sigma, has resulted in thwarting innovation. Innovation requires calculated risks that produce defects higher than accepatable to Six Sigma.
