Is business and it alignment affected by national culture? Is business and it alignment more mature in one country than in another?
This paper discusses the impact of national culture on business and it alignment. It first defines culture using the Hofstede’s framework. Then, it tries to establish a connection between national culture and business IT alignment using the Luftman business it alignment maturity model. Finally, it uses this framework to assess the business and IT alignment maturity in six organizations three each in the Netherlands and Belgium. The results support a potential effect of national cultures on BIA maturity, especially in “governance maturity” and “skills maturity”, but not all expected results are confirmed.
